we had one of these when i roomed with my big sister, and now i am looking to buy a set like this now... but i can't remember wht they were called... i am trying to search on the web for them... but can't find them.

Mon, November 12, 2007 - 8:31 AMDid you find the corner bed unit? I've been looking forever and PBTeen is the closest I can find. I even tried to make a table and shove the other bed under but it didn't work and looked awful. I might have to break down and get the PB one. -

Re: corner bed unit
Thu, February 22, 2007 - 10:52 AMThey are called "Trundle Beds". I had one with hideous metal springs that came apart and snapped everytime you pulled out the bottom twin bed. They also could be used to make one super king sized super bed by snapping the bottom bed into place to be even with the top one.
These were very popular in bachelor one room apartments. Ikea probably makes something similar now. -

Re: corner bed unit
Thu, February 22, 2007 - 1:05 PMno - a trundle has another bed stored under it - the kind of bed I think we are remembering was actually two twins that the ends were tucked into large end tables. They really are a cool idea for a guest room. I will see if I can find a picture to post.... -

Re: corner bed unit
Fri, February 23, 2007 - 10:27 AMyou're right jill, the one i am thinking of is not a trundle bed, but a studio bed... two preformed twin beds (like the base was one unit of boxspring, wooden sidewalls and wheels, then the mattress sat on top) that were arranged together head to head to form an L and there was a wonderful large square table that covered the corner of the L, so that one bed actually slid underneath the large square table.... they were just Super neato

Re: corner bed unit
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 2:56 PMHoly Smoke! I thought I was the only one who remembered those! I shared one originally with my sister, but when I got my own apartment, it came with me and acted as my first sofa set. Mine had a stereo unit in the corner table, with a turn table and a radio. The bottom portion was solid - probably pressboard and it was covered with black vinyl. Whooo Hooo! The mattress portion was foam, so it didn't sink in like a mattress and made it nice for my living room at that time. It had wedge bolsters so you had something to lean up against. I think there were two of them. We always shoved one of the beds all the way under the table so that it was more like a chair. It had a fitted cover in some sort of blue and green seventies type fabric and it wore like iron. Shoot I kept that darn thing until I had kids of my own and it never wore out. I had it in my kids' playroom. I have picture of it somewhere. I'm gonna have to dig them up now. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of it because I could sure use it for my spare bedroom now. Now if somebody was really smart, they'd bring that thing back because I'll bet a lot of people would use something like that. -

Re: corner bed unit
Thu, January 3, 2008 - 10:45 AMhey, i think i've found it. there's a company in florida that makes them. go to gainfurniture.net, and put bahama bed in furniture search. i spoke to calvin. they will make them (without back and arm for the purists), but they won't ship them. as shown they cost $1295.00, less without the arm and back. i think i posted a picture on my blog, but i'm not sure what that is, or where it went. i'm really new at this...

Re: corner bed unit
Fri, April 3, 2009 - 8:26 PMI have one! It 's green plaid and very much the worse for wear,
but the daybeds, platforms, and (icky) mattresses are in my garage.
Got is as a hand-me down from my grandmother, and it was my main couch for at least ten years.
LOVED IT!! And always got lots of compliments. Very comfortable, many bands crashed on it in the 80's and 90's.
Unfortunately the table with the am radio was left out in the rain and was destroyed.
Would love to find another, have been looking for years and just saw your post.
If you want photos I can try to dig some up, or at least give you the specs.
Maybe we should start manufacturing them!! Brilliant design. -

Re: corner bed unit
Sat, May 16, 2009 - 12:22 PMOMG!!! My sister and I shared a room for most of our lives and we had a corner group bed. Ours was white and had a stereo/record player. It was the best!! Now Im trying to find one for my girls and only 2 places I have found have them. PB Teens and thefurniture.com. They sure are expensive but overall worth it. My kids dont have a very big room and it leaves great space for them to play. I highly recommend them for families with kids that share rooms!!

good luck finding one .If I were you I'd just build it.
